Biographical History

Werner Eduard Fritz von Blomberg (1878–1946) was a German general who served as Minister of Defence, later titled Minister of War, in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1938.

Scope/Content

Photographs of Werner von Blomberg’s visiting the city of Wiesbaden, where he presented a flag to the I. Battalion of Infantry Regiment No. 81 of the Wehrmacht in a ceremonial event known as a Fahnenweihe. The images show his arrival at the Hotel Rose and a military parade.

Rendered as postcards and arranged in pairs, the photographs are mounted on paper using photo corners. Each pair is accompanied by typewritten captions. Also included is a print of an undated studio portrait of Blomberg, which appears to bear his signature.
